Course structure
SuperChinese advertises eight course levels covering vocabulary, grammar, and conversation. A level assessment helps you choose where to start. Its HSK-based content is relevant if you want a course organized around those levels.
Dengdeng does not follow HSK units or provide an exam-preparation course. Each story has three difficulty versions. Choose one by reading the first paragraph and checking how much you understand.
SuperChinese also offers CHAO, an AI tutor with explanations and speaking feedback. Dengdeng does not offer an AI speaking tutor. Check which SuperChinese plan includes the features you want before subscribing.
Reading practice
Dengdeng selects stories from China: real events, cultural trends, technology, and everyday life. You practice reading Chinese while learning about the subjects behind those stories.
You can practice that alongside SuperChinese. Keep the lessons that teach grammar or pronunciation you still need, and add a short reading session. If a text requires a lookup in nearly every phrase, choose an easier version.
Vocabulary review
Dengdeng saves the words you tap while reading and gives common words priority when new vocabulary enters practice. Exercises show each word in a sentence, from the story where you tapped it when one is available.
SuperChinese includes a review system for what you study in its course. The main difference is the source of the vocabulary: your reading in Dengdeng, or course material in SuperChinese. Dengdeng's method page explains its scheduling rules.
Access
One complete story from every daily Dengdeng edition is free in the app on iOS and Android, and five stories from the archive open up each week. Pro includes all three stories, the archive, and additional reader and practice tools. The website has short previews.
Both apps are available on iOS and Android. Choose SuperChinese if you need an introductory Mandarin course; choose Dengdeng for daily reading practice.

Common questions
Should I replace SuperChinese with Dengdeng?
You do not need to. Keep the course while it is useful, and add Dengdeng when you want to read real stories from China.
Which is more suitable for HSK study?
SuperChinese has the more relevant course structure: it advertises content through HSK 5. Dengdeng's HSK 3.0 word decks help with vocabulary, and its stories add reading practice, but it is not an exam preparation course.
Can a beginner use Dengdeng?
Yes, once you know some basic words. Easy stories and the HSK 3.0 word decks are written for that stage. If you are starting from zero, use SuperChinese or another introductory course for pinyin and basic sentence patterns first.
